- Brenda Harrison was elected as the first female Leader of Hartlepool Borough Council in May 2024. She is a Labour Councillor and has represented the De Bruce Ward since 2016 and previously chaired the Council’s Children’s Services Committee. Before entering politics, she spent 33 years teaching music and English at a secondary school in Hartlepool.
