Bio
Sacha is Chief Executive of The Wharton Trust in Hartlepool and Chair of Community Organisers, the national body for community organising in England.
Based in Dyke House - Sacha has led transformational, resident-led work through The Annexe, a thriving social action hub addressing poverty, exclusion, housing, and wellbeing. Since 2012, he has embedded community organising into every level of local life, training residents to lead their own initiatives. His leadership has also driven youth engagement through Big Local and supported the establishment and growth of community businesses locally.
Following ten years of this approach, Sacha recently created The Dyke House Neighbourhood prospectus, a document which seeks investment into the area for the next decade based on local data and resident insights. This has created local and national interest as a ground breaking piece of work.
Sacha also plays a prominent national role, particularly in advocating for community power in post-industrial and coastal towns. As Chair of Community Organisers, he helps shape the strategy for building a national network of trained organisers and Social Action Hubs across England.
Awarded an MBE in 2021 for services to the community, Sacha is known for his powerful, people-first philosophy: build trust, grow leaders, and enable communities to shape and deliver their own futures. His MBE builds on previous awards including the Office of the Deputy Prime Ministers award for Community Cohesion for his work integrating asylum seekers, refugees and the multi-racial community in Stockton; the North East Equality Award and a UK Online award for Digital Inclusion
