Bio
Denise has almost 30 years’ experience in Local Government, all with Hartlepool Borough Council. She has had various roles, starting as a recycling officer she soon progressed to become the Environmental Services Manager, and has had subsequent roles since then including Director for Regeneration and Neighbourhoods.
Denise attended Durham University and obtained a BSc Honours Degree in Environmental Technology and in 2008 she obtained an MBA in Public Management at Teesside University. Denise has been Hartlepool Council’s Managing Director since August 2020. Some additional activities and responsibilities over the years include:
· Lead Place Director when the LEP transitioned to a Combined Authority for the Tees Valley and negotiating with Government on the Devolution Deal
· Cleveland Local Resilience Forum Chair 2018 – 2021 leading on their Cleveland response for COVID19 Pandemic
· Lead Chief Executive for Adult Social Care representing 12 North East Local Authorities
· Lead Chief Executive for Emergency Planning and Community Safety for the five Tees Valley Councils
· Solace Policy Board lead for Civil & Community Resilience
· Project Sponsor for TV, DCC and NCC Waste Disposal Contract.
In her spare time Denise regularly attends her local gym and likes to relax with a good book.
