XL Bully type dog ban – the latest information
From 31 December 2023, new legal restrictions came into force regarding the ownership and control of XL Bully type dogs.
These changes are part of national legislation aimed at improving public safety and reducing dog-related incidents.
What the ban means
If you own an XL Bully dog, you must:
- comply with new legal requirements
- apply for a Certificate of Exemption if you wish to keep your dog
- ensure your dog is neutered, microchipped, and kept on a lead and muzzled in public
Failure to comply may result in prosecution and your dog being seized.
