Food Law Enforcement Service Plan

We carry out regular inspections and enforcement activities to ensure food safety across Hartlepool. Our authorised food officers visit all registered food premises to check they meet legal standards.

Throughout the year, we sample a variety of foods to:

  • monitor quality
  • check compliance with legal standards
  • identify potential risks

We also investigate:

  • food complaints
  • cases of food poisoning
  • infectious disease outbreaks

The Food Law Enforcement Service Plan outlines our priorities for the year ahead and reviews our performance from the previous year. It is reviewed annually and approved by the Neighbourhood Services Committee.
