Hartlepool Registration Service are following guidance from Government, General Register Office for England and Wales, Public Health England and Hartlepool Borough Council. The latest information can be found at www.gov.uk

The health, safety and wellbeing of the general public and our staff is of the highest importance. In line with Government guidance we request that if you have a high temperature, a new continuous cough or have been advised to self-isolate you do not attend our office.

Copy certificates

Certificates can be ordered online or over the phone with a credit or debit card. The 'in person' ordering service at the Civic Centre has been suspended.

All certificates will be posted, the collection service has been suspended until further notice.

Death registration appointments

To reduce the spread of coronavirus and to assist informants who are self isolating / shielding death registration appointments will now be conducted over the telephone. If you require an appointment please call 01429 523337.

Birth registration appointments

Birth registration appointments have been suspended as part of the Government measures to reduce the spread of coronavirus.

The requirement for a birth to be registered before you are able to claim for Child Benefit or Universal Credit has been removed during this period.

Notice of Marriage / Civil Partnership appointments

Notice of intention appointments have been suspended as part of the Government measures to reduce the spread of coronavirus.

Ceremonies

Marriage and civil partnership ceremonies have been suspended as part of the Government measures to reduce the spread of coronavirus - couples who are affected will be contacted by our team.

If you have a booking with Hartlepool Registration Service in the upcoming months and would prefer to postpone your ceremony to a later date you can do so free of charge.

Authorities to marry / form a civil partnership are valid for 12 months from the date of notice. If your authorities expire before you can reschedule your ceremony with the venue you will need to give notice of your intention again. There will be no additional fee for those couples that live in the Borough of Hartlepool.

If you decide to cancel your ceremony but are not affected by the current restrictions our normal cancellation and refund policy will apply.
