Family and Local History Library

Research your Family Tree
You can research your family tree by visiting your local library to use these online information resources:

Unfortunately, these online resources are not available for use outside the library.  Please contact your local library for further information.

We also have a large number of other resources to help with your family history research, including Parish records and newspapers. These are held on the first floor of the Community Hub Central, where the staff will be happy to help and advise.

Workshop: Tracing you Ancestors
Every Wednesday morning we have a Tracing Your Ancestors drop-in for people researching their family tree.  Contact us or just come along.

Local History
We have a large local history collection for Hartlepool and the surrounding area.  Please get in touch if you need help or advice with your local history research.

Images of Hartlepool can be viewed online at our website, Hartlepool History Then and Now.  The site includes photographs and information from the library and museum services alongside hundreds of previously unseen images donated by members of the public to form a very personal history of the town by its residents.

View our online information resource centre for further additional help and information

Our Information Directory has links to other reputable websites that may help with your research (please refer to the section named 'Local and Family History').
