Flood and Coastal Engineering
Protect Hartlepool through coastal defence and flood management.
Passenger Transport
You could be part of the team responsible for planning and delivering upon a wide range of transport options, including home to school transport, private hire and special education transport.
Highways Careers
Plan and maintain transport systems, public rights of way, street lighting and road safety.
The team also delivers a national driver offender scheme.
Facilities Management
We employ cooks, assistant cooks and catering assistants who serve high-standard, value for money school meals each year.
Our cleaning team service to more than 70 schools and Council buildings, providing a safe, clean and healthy environment for our children, staff and visitors.
As part of the application process, candidates are required to provide the contact details of two referees who have held line management responsibility as these roles are subject to safer recruitment

This team is responsible for:
- delivering a visionary masterplan for the town
- regenerating our town centre
- restoring heritage assets for new uses
- leading exciting projects (such as the new Screen Industries Production Village)
- sustainability policies and initiatives
- the Council's response to climate change
- implementing a new long-term Net Zero Plan
- the Council’s data and intelligence function
Economic Regeneration
Grow Hartlepool’s economy through business support, investment and tourism.
This team is based at the award-winning BIS, the Council’s creative industries managed workspace.
They support businesses to deliver business events and promotional campaigns for growing the Hartlepool economy.
Consultancy services
Deliver award-winning engineering and design projects in:
- civil, mechanical and electrical engineering
- architecture
- quantity surveying
They deliver on specialist projects such as flood and coastal risk management, contaminated land, building design and demolition, legionella, and energy management.
Trades careers
Work in a modern, multi-skilled team delivering:
- electrical, plumbing and heating services
- maintenance in schools, offices and homes
These roles are subject to an enhanced DBS, all future training will be provided when required.
Both roles are supported by working charge hands.
