Gambling Temporary Use Notice (TUN)
A Temporary Use Notice (TUN) allows a licensed operator to temporarily use a premises for gambling, even if the premises does not have a gambling premises licence.
When can a TUN be used?
TUNs are suitable for venues such as:
- hotels
- conference centres
- sporting venues
They can only be used for equal chance gaming where the game is designed to produce a single overall winner. TUNs cannot be used for gaming that involves gaming machines.
What is equal chance gaming?
Equal chance gaming means:
- all players have the same chance of winning
- players do not play against a bank or house
Examples include:
- bingo
- poker
- rummy
- dominoes
- cribbage
- mah-jong
- backgammon
- kalooki
