Notes – Animal Activities Licence

  1. A vet’s fee is also payable where a vet’s inspection is either required by law or deemed to be necessary by the Council.
  2. For dog boarding new application and renewal there is an additional application fee of £85 £80 per host and a further £65 £60 per host for the mandatory mid-licence inspection
  3. It is a requirement of the regulations that premises licensed for the hiring out of horses receive a vet’s inspection every year. The fees for these inspections are in addition to those listed above
  4. A new application would be needed for the following changes to a business:
    1. Change of address (of premises where animals are kept or accommodated)
    2. Change of business operator
    3. The addition of a new licensable activity
  5. A variation of licence would be required for the following proposed amendments:
    1. Changes to the number of animals licensed
    2. Changes to the identity of animals licensed (where animals are identified on the licence)
    3. A change of licence holder’s address (where no animals are kept or accommodated at those premises)
    4. The addition/removal of a host premises for dog boarding activities
    5. Changes to the plan of the premises that are being used to keep or accommodate animals
  6. It is not possible to combine the activity of ‘Keeping or Training Animals for Exhibition Only’ with any other activity on one licence. This is because such licences must, by law, be for a three year duration and do not qualify for a Star Rating. Where this activity does take place at the same premises as another activity, a reduced fee may be applicable.
