We are responsible for making sure that only fit and proper people are licensed to drive hackney carriage and private hire vehicles.
We welcome both complaints and positive feedback about licensed drivers and vehicles.
How to make a complaint
If you want to report a concern about a taxi driver or vehicle, please contact the Licensing Team:
- phone: 01429 523354
- email: licensing@hartlepool.gov.uk
- post: Licensing Team, Civic Centre, Victoria Road, Hartlepool, TS25 8AY
We aim to respond within 2 working days. To help us investigate, please provide as much detail as possible, including:
- driver’s name (shown on their ID badge)
- vehicle registration number
- vehicle plate number (Every licensed vehicle must display a 'plate' on both the front and back which gives the vehicles unique licence number - these will begin with either a 'P' or an 'H')
- description of the vehicle
- time and location of the incident
- details of any witnesses
In some cases, we may ask you to provide a formal statement. This helps us investigate thoroughly, but you should not feel discouraged from making a complaint.
Positive feedback
If you’ve had a good experience with a taxi driver, we’d love to hear about it. Many drivers work hard to provide excellent service, and we want to recognise those who go above and beyond.
