Resurfacing works planned throughout May to improve borough’s roads

Drivers are advised that essential road resurfacing works will be carried out in the coming weeks on various routes across Hartlepool.

The resurfacing works - which are being funded through the Council’s ‘Highway Improvement Funding Programme’ - will repair surface damage caused by adverse weather conditions on various roads, whilst also making necessary improvements to residential neighbourhoods.

Please see below further information on the full schedule of works. Whilst the works are being carried out, particular sections of road will be closed to traffic. Diversion routes will be in place with signs to inform drivers.

The Council apologises for any inconvenience which this essential resurfacing work may cause. Residents should also be advised that scheduled works may be delayed in the event of adverse weather conditions.


Marlowe Road

The work will be carried out on Marlowe Road between Dryden Road and Masefield Road from Thursday 9th May to Friday 10th May. The works will start daily at 7.30am and finish at 4.30pm.

Whilst the work is being carried out that particular section of road will be closed to traffic, and a signposted diversion will be in place.

 

Brierton Lane

The work will be carried out on the westbound section of Brierton Lane between Catcote Road (junction next to Farm Foods) and Eskdale Road (to the McColls junction).

Phase 1 – The planing works start on Saturday 11th May between 5pm – midnight and will be resurfaced Sunday 12th May between 7.30am – 3pm.

Phase 2 – The planing works start on Saturday 18th May between 5pm – midnight and will be resurfaced Sunday 19th May between 7.30am – 3pm.

Access will be maintained to Brierton Sports Centre during these works. Whilst the work is being carried out, a signposted diversion will be in place.

 

Tees Road

The work will be carried out on the section of Tees Road between Elizabeth Way and Tofts Farm East Access Road. Access will be made available to residents of the ‘Seaton Dunes’ housing estate and to the Sports Domes.

The works will take place daily from 6pm until 2am on Tuesday 14th May until Thursday 16th May.

Throughout its duration, traffic management officers will be situated to guide drivers safely out of the estate, therefore please allow extra time for journeys if using this route.

 

Stockton Road

The work will be carried out on the section of Stockton Road between Burn Valley Roundabout up to Vicarage Gardens from Thursday 15th May to Friday 16th May. The works will start daily at 6pm and finish at 2am the following day.

Whilst the work is being carried out that particular section of road will be closed to traffic, and a signposted diversion will be in place.

 

Cleveland Road

Work will be carried out on the section of Cleveland Road between Mountbatten Close and Arch Court.

The works will begin on Friday 17th May at 6pm and will continue until 2am the following day. The road will be re-opened on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th May, until work recommences from Monday 20th May until Tuesday 21st May, when the works will continue at the same scheduled time of 6pm until 2am. The road will re-open as normal on Wednesday 22nd May.

Hart Lane/ Dunston Road Roundabout

Resurfacing work will take place on the Hart Lane/ Dunston Road Roundabout on Tuesday 21st May from 6pm until 2am and Thursday 23rd May from 6pm until 2am.

Whilst the work is being carried out that particular section of road will be closed to traffic, and a signposted diversion will be in place.

 

Winterbottom Avenue

Work will be carried out on the section of Winterbottom Avenue between Howbeck Lane and Powlett Road Roundabout on Thursday 23rd May from 6pm until 2am the following day. 

Whilst the work is being carried out that particular section of road will be closed to traffic, and a signposted diversion will be in place.

 

Balmoral Road

Resurfacing work will take place along the full length of Balmoral Road between Tuesday 28th May and Friday 31st May from 7.30am until 4.30pm
