Work is about to begin on a scheme to replace the worn out road surface around a busy Hartlepool roundabout.
The scheme involving the A179 Marina Way/Powlett Road/Cleveland Road roundabout will require night-time closures of the roundabout, although it will remain open during the day.
The night-time closures from 7pm-5am will begin on Sunday 8 March for three nights.

Councillor Owen Riddle, Chair of Hartlepool Borough Council’s Neighbourhoods and Regulatory Services Committee, said: “We have been monitoring the condition of the carriageway and listened to the concerns from residents about the deteriorating state of the road surface at this busy location. We have taken a decision to bring this scheme forward in our five-year highway maintenance programme in order to resolve the issue before it gets any worse.”
During the closures signed diversions will be in place. Vehicles travelling north will be diverted via Clarence Road/Lancaster Road, Raby Road will be used for southbound traffic and West View Road will be the alternative route for traffic travelling to and from the Headland.
