Free Easter holiday cycling courses for children

Published: 25 March 2026

Schoolchildren in Hartlepool are being offered the chance to improve their cycling skills at free Easter holiday training sessions.

Hartlepool Borough Council has joined forces with The Cycle Partnership and the Bikeability Trust to offer a series of one-hour Learn 2 Ride sessions for children aged 7-11 on Wednesday 8 April and Thursday 9 April.

Each day, courses will run from 10am-11am, 11.15am-12.15pm and 1pm-2pm. Only one place per person can be booked and multiple bookings for the same person will not be taken. Bookings can be made at www.thecyclepartnership.co.uk/bikeability

Ideally, participants will have their own bike – minus stabilisers. However, a bike and helmet can be provided if required. Parents/carers are asked to request these at the time of booking.

Each session will be guided by qualified cycling instructors to help children build their confidence with the aim of having them pedalling by the end of the session.

The sessions will take place at the Elephant Rock events area on the Headland promenade behind the Heugh Battery Museum. All participating children must be accompanied by an adult.
