Local businesses are being invited to find out more about the opportunities set to be unlocked by a multi-million pound investment in state-of-the-art film, TV and digital production village in Hartlepool.

A procurement event is to be held to provide more information about the expansion of The Northern Studios in Lynn Street, and the creation of a Screen Industries Production Village in the surrounding Church Street area.

It is aimed at contractors, sub-contractors and supply chain businesses and will take place at The BIS in Whitby Street, Hartlepool on Thursday 23rd April from 10am-12pm.

The £33.5 million project involves building larger studios with industry leading equipment and facilities at The Northern Studios and creating a Screen Industries Production Village by converting nine disused buildings – including the Grade II listed former Shades Hotel – into cutting-edge workplaces for creative professionals

Led by Hartlepool Borough Council, the project is a partnership with the Northern School of Art, Tees Valley Combined Authority and North East Screen. It is being developed with industry specialists Leonard Design, Stace and TIME + SPACE and construction is expected to begin in the coming months.

It is set to create opportunities for local businesses across construction, trades, facilities management, specialist services and the wider supply chain.

Kieran Bostock, Hartlepool Borough Council’s Director of Neighbourhoods and Regulatory Services, said: “The information event is a great opportunity to get ahead of the procurement process, make connections, and ensure your business is ready to benefit from this landmark development in Hartlepool’s growing screen industries cluster. It is really exciting that we are now in a position to be able to engage the market and provide more information on the opportunities on offer.”

Businesses who attend the information session will be able to find out more about:

  • What the Production Village will include - an overview of the planned facilities, phases of development, and the scale of forthcoming works.
  • Upcoming contracts and procurement opportunities - insight into work packages, contract values, and the types of suppliers the project will be looking for.
  • How to bid and become part of the supply chain - guidance on procurement routes, frameworks, compliance requirements, and how to position your business for selection.
  • Project timescales - a clear rundown of key milestones, delivery phases, and when different contract opportunities will go live.
