Hartlepool seaside resort Seaton Carew has once again been recognised for its outstanding quality, earning a top award from environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy.

The resort’s main beach has been granted a Seaside Award – an accolade only given to English beaches which are safe, clean and meet the highest environmental standards.

The beach is regularly cleaned and is patrolled by lifeguards during the school summer holidays, helping to ensure it’s a welcoming and enjoyable place for residents and visitors alike.

Gemma Ptak, Hartlepool Borough Council’s Director of Housing, Growth and Communities, said: “We’re absolutely delighted that Seaton Carew has once again secured this prestigious Seaside Award.

“It reflects the continued dedication of our staff and volunteers who work so hard all year round to keep the beach in excellent condition, and we’re incredibly grateful for everything they do.

“Seaton Carew is a real gem on our coastline – with its beautiful beach, family-friendly leisure attractions, amusements, shops and fantastic places to eat, it offers a great day out for people of all ages.”

Allison Ogden-Newton, Keep Britain Tidy’s Chief Executive, said: “England is fortunate to boast some of the world’s finest beaches, and it’s encouraging to see this reflected in the award to Seaton Carew’s main beach, signalling its high standards to all who visit or live nearby.

“Everybody involved in this achievement should feel proud of their ongoing work to care for and enhance this important local blue space.”
