Sporting opportunity up for grabs at Brierton Sports Centre

Published: 8 July 2026

Tenders are being invited for an exciting opportunity to bring new activity to one of Hartlepool's key community sports hubs.

Hartlepool Borough Council is seeking a suitable tenant to lease a 3,200 square metre area of land at Brierton Sports Centre, opening the door for the development of new sporting facilities for local residents.

The site, currently laid out as six tarmac tennis courts, is available for sport uses, (excluding football), subject to the necessary agreements and planning consents.

As part of the lease arrangement, the successful operator may also be granted access to changing and toilet facilities within Brierton Sports Centre itself. The centre is open from 7am to 9pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 4pm at weekends.

The successful tenant will be responsible for all repairs and maintenance associated with the site, including the existing floodlighting.

The Council is offering the site by informal tender, with bids required to include an annual rent offer and preferred lease term, with a minimum term of five years.

The closing date for tender submissions is 12 noon on Friday 14 August 2026.

Tenders should be sent to:
