Families are being invited to make the most of the school summer holidays as Summer at Seaton returns with a bigger and better programme of free events and activities.
Organised by Hartlepool Borough Council's Economic Growth Team, the popular initiative is set to bring weeks of fun, discovery and entertainment to Seaton Carew, with something for all ages to enjoy.
Best of all, every event is free to attend, making it the perfect way to enjoy a summer of family memories without breaking the bank.
Councillor Rob Darby, Chair of the Council’s Housing, Growth and Communities Committee, said: "Summer at Seaton has become a highlight of the school holidays and we're delighted to be bringing it back bigger and better than ever this year. The programme offers a fantastic range of free activities for families to enjoy together, from sports and archaeology to history and local markets.
"Seaton Carew is one of Hartlepool's greatest attractions and Summer at Seaton is a wonderful opportunity for residents and visitors alike to discover everything the resort has to offer, including its beautiful beach, excellent play facilities and thriving independent businesses.
"With all events free to attend, we hope as many people as possible will come along, get involved and make some great memories this summer."
The exciting programme includes a Hartlepool Sport Activity Day on Tuesday 28 July from 11am to 2pm in the beach hut area on the Seaton Carew promenade. Visitors can try a range of fun sporting activities and enjoy getting active by the seaside.
Those keen to uncover Seaton's fascinating past can take part in History Walks with Tees Archaeology on Wednesday 5 August, meeting at Seaton Carew Community Hub. An adults-only walk will take place from 9.45am to 10.45am, followed by a family-friendly walk from 11am to 12pm. Places on both walks must be booked in advance.
An Explore Hartlepool Maker's Market will take place at the beach huts on Tuesday 11 August from 10am to 4pm offering visitors the chance to browse and buy from a fantastic selection of local makers and independent traders.
Young explorers can roll up their sleeves and discover the world beneath their feet at Be A Mini Archaeologist with Tees Archaeology on Wednesday 19 August, from 11am to 1pm, at the playground on Seaton front. This hands-on activity is perfect for youngsters eager to learn about archaeology and history in a fun and engaging way.
The programme concludes with another Hartlepool Sport Activity Day on Tuesday 25 August, from 11am to 2pm, in the beach hut area.
With the exception of the History Walks, all Summer at Seaton events will operate on a drop-in basis.
