Hartlepool town centre is set to come alive with a vibrant festival atmosphere when it hosts a new street food event.

Hartlepool Borough Council has teamed up with Street Food Carousel organiser Baccanalia to bring the attraction to Church Square.

Taking place across four dates in August, September and October, it promises a fantastic day out for residents and visitors alike.

The first Street Food Carousel will take place on Saturday 1 August from 4pm to 8pm, followed by further events on 22 August, 19 September and 31 October.

The initiative is expected to attract people into the heart of the town centre, providing a boost not only for event traders but also for nearby pubs, bars and restaurants.

Baccanalia are inviting local traders to get involved, with food vendors, retailers and other businesses looking to showcase their products or services encouraged to apply for a stall. Interested businesses can email info@baccanalia.co.uk for further information.

Councillor Rob Darby, Chair of the Council’s Housing, Growth and Communities Committee, said: “We are delighted to be working with Baccanalia to bring Street Food Carousel to Hartlepool. This is an exciting new event which will help to drive footfall into the town centre.

"We are looking forward to seeing Church Square transformed into a vibrant destination and would encourage local traders to seize the opportunity to get involved."

Baccanalia Managing Director Thomas Wales added: “Street Food Carousel has already proved hugely popular across the North-East, and we’re excited to bring that same mix of great food, independent traders and town centre atmosphere to Hartlepool.”
