Road closures will be in place this Sunday (9 August) as hundreds of competitors take part in Hartlepool's popular Big Lime Triathlon.
Temporary traffic restrictions will be in force along sections of the race route to ensure the safety of participants and spectators.
Road closures will be in place from 7am until 10.30am on Maritime Avenue in Hartlepool Marina, from Victoria Terrace to the bus terminus, and on a section of Coronation Drive between Newburn Bridge and Station Lane in Seaton Carew.
The Maritime Avenue restriction is in addition to the existing partial closure of the road currently in place to facilitate works on the Waterfront Accessibility regeneration scheme, which is being delivered through funding from the UK Government's Local Regeneration Fund.
Clearly signed diversions will be in operation throughout the event.
The triathlon route will also make use of sections of the promenade between the marina and Seaton Carew. Pedestrians are asked to follow guidance from volunteer marshals positioned along the course to help ensure the event runs safely and smoothly.
Dog owners are also being encouraged to keep their pets on leads while the event is taking place.
Meanwhile, organisers are still looking for additional volunteer marshals to support the event. People of all ages are welcome to get involved, although anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult.
