Hartlepool Borough Council is inviting local businesses to take advantage of its commercial waste and recycling service as part of ongoing efforts to tackle fly-tipping.
The service can cater for businesses of all sizes, with waste containers ranging from 240 to 1,100 litres.
Businesses benefit from straightforward pricing with no hidden charges, and the price quoted includes container provision, collection, disposal and all required documentation. Containers are safe, easy to manoeuvre and require minimal space, helping to make waste management simple and efficient. There is no VAT on trade waste collections.
The service also helps businesses meet their legal responsibilities. Under the Environmental Protection Act 1990, businesses have a duty of care to ensure waste is stored, transported and disposed of correctly by a waste carrier licensed by the Environment Agency. Relevant documentation must also be retained for at least two years. Businesses failing to meet these requirements can face fines, enforcement action from the Environment Agency or other regulators, and they may be held liable if their waste is fly-tipped.
The promotion of the service coincides with Fight Fly-Tipping Fortnight, a national Keep Britain Tidy campaign running until 25 October.
Councillor Amanda Napper, Chair of Hartlepool Borough Council's Neighbourhoods and Regulatory Services Committee, said: "Our commercial waste and recycling service provides local businesses with a reliable, professional solution tailored to their needs.
"We offer clear and competitive pricing, full documentation and a complete audit trail, giving businesses confidence that their waste is being managed legally and responsibly.
"By choosing a trusted local provider, businesses can reduce their risk of enforcement action while helping us tackle fly-tipping and keep Hartlepool clean and attractive for residents, visitors and investors."
