Private view and Q&A session with North East artists

Art enthusiasts are invited to attend a special private view and question and answer session with two local artists currently exhibiting at Hartlepool Art Gallery.

The intimate event - which takes place on Monday 13 March - features the work of renowned Hartlepool-based artist and designer Stuart Langley and Newcastle-based artist Jade Sweeting.

Q&A

Sweeting’s ‘Exposed’ exhibition invites audiences to step back in time and browse the mugshots of Edwardian convicts who were found guilty of a range of crimes such as arson, fraud and even stealing potatoes. The images have been brought back to life by Sweeting in a haunting display.

‘Neon and that’ is the latest showcase of work by Stuart Langley and is described as a fusion of colour that pops, bends light and re-imagines waste. Visitors can walk through this florescent spectacular where Langley has discovered beauty in resources many would not expect to find it.

The evening will include a meet and greet with the artists, followed by a question and answer session. There will also be an opportunity to browse and buy from the exhibition and new spring gallery shop stock, as well as enjoy a complimentary drink on arrival.

Ashley Landsbury, Cultural Officer (Arts & Exhibitions) at Hartlepool Borough Council, said: “We are thrilled to be hosting this delightful evening where people have the opportunity to not only view the work of Jade and Stuart but ask them questions about the inspiration behind their work, it really is not to be missed.

“Admission to the exhibition is free to all so we really hope people will seize the opportunity to come and see the work of two North East artists.”

Guests interested in purchasing pieces from the exhibition can now do so easily as Hartlepool Art Gallery is a proud member of the Own Art Scheme. The scheme makes buying art simple and affordable by letting you spread the cost of your purchase over 10 months with an interest free loan.
