This Tees Valley Joint Minerals and Waste Local Plan Timetable is published in accordance with Regulation 9 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) Regulations (2026) and shall have effect from 23 October 2026.
It sets out the timetable for the emerging Tees Valley Joint Minerals and Waste Local Plan which will apply to the Borough Councils of Darlington, Hartlepool, Middlesbrough, Redcar and Cleveland (excluding land within the North York Moors National Park) and Stockton-on-Tees (“the Councils”).
In accordance with the regulations, the timetable will be reviewed monthly and at key milestones. It will be updated when necessary.
The Tees Valley Joint Minerals and Waste Local Plan will be a single document which will:
- guide future growth and development of minerals and waste across the five boroughs;
- set out policies on matters relating to the future development minerals and waste on land within the boroughs; and
- replace the current Tees Valley Joint Minerals and Waste Core Strategy Development Plan Document and Polices and Sites Development Plan Document (2011).
Matters that do not relate to minerals and waste will be deal with through each borough’s Local Plan.
The Joint Minerals and Waste Local Plan will be prepared in accordance with the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act (2004), as amended, and the Town and Country Planning (England) Local Planning Regulations (2026).
