What Is HEET?
HEET is a partnership between local authorities in the Tees Valley: Darlington, Hartlepool, Stockton-on-Tees, and Redcar & Cleveland. Together, we’re working to help residents improve the energy efficiency of their homes.
Support Available
We’ve secured over £6 million in funding through the Government’s Home Upgrade Grant (HUG). This funding is available to households without gas central heating, including homes heated by:
- Electricity
- Oil
- LPG
- Other fossil fuels
Eligible households could receive up to £18,000 in free energy efficiency improvements.
What Improvements Are Covered?
If you qualify, your home could benefit from:
- Insulation upgrades
- Double glazing (replacing single glazing)
- Renewable heating systems, such as air source heat pumps
- Solar panels for clean energy
All improvements are free of charge for eligible residents.
Who Can Apply?
To qualify, your home must:
- Have an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating of D, E, F or G
Check your EPC rating
And either:
- Be located in a qualifying postcode area
or - Have a gross household income below £36,000
or - Receive a qualifying benefit, such as:
- Universal Credit
- Working Tax Credit
- Child Tax Credit
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA)
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA)
- Pension Credit Guarantee
