Why have I been offered this course?

The police may offer this course as an alternative to prosecution for driving without care, attention, or reasonable consideration.
Courses must usually be completed within 4 months of the offence date.

What does the course involve?

The course is delivered either in person or online.
It includes a combination of:

  • listening to information
  • group discussion

You are expected to participate actively throughout the session.

Can I attend a course outside Cleveland or Durham?

Yes. The scheme operates in most areas of England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, although course dates and availability may vary.
You can select a different location when booking online or refer to the contact details provided in your course offer.

Will there be a test?

No. There is no formal test during the course.
However, you must attend the full session and take an active part to successfully complete it.

What if I have special requirements?

Can I attend if I’ve lost my driving licence?

You must bring original photographic ID on the day of the course.
Accepted forms include:

  • photocard driving licence
  • passport
