Safe and fuel efficient driving (SAFED)

Safe and fuel efficient driving (SAFED) is a practical and theory-based driver training programme. It helps drivers adopt safer and more fuel-efficient driving techniques, reducing the risk of collisions and environmental impact.

What is SAFED?

SAFED training is delivered in a company vehicle by professional driver trainers experienced in eco-driving schemes. Sessions can be delivered over a half or full day.

Why undertake SAFED training?

SAFED training offers a range of measurable benefits for both drivers and organisations:

  • average fuel savings of 10–15%
  • lower fuel and maintenance costs
  • reduced emissions and environmental impact
  • less downtime due to road incidents
  • potential reduction in insurance premiums
  • shorter journey times and reduced driver fatigue
  • improved profitability through cost savings

Training costs

Training costs start from:

  • £80 for a half-day session (typically in a company vehicle on a 1-1 or 1-2 basis)
  • from £160 for a full-day session delivered on a 1-1 basis  (1 driver in the morning, 1 in the afternoon)
