If you own an electric vehicle but don’t have off-street parking, you can now apply to have a cable channel installed in the public footpath outside your home. This allows you to safely run a charging cable from your property to your vehicle parked at the kerbside.
How it works
We install these cable channels in partnership with Kerbo Charge. To get started:
- visit the Kerbo Charge website to register your interest
- you’ll be given the option to request a quote from Hartlepool Borough Council for the installation
- if you agree to proceed, we’ll arrange an installation date.
- you’ll pay all costs directly to Kerbo Charge. A payment plan is available if needed.
Available grants
We and the Tees Valley Combined Authority (TVCA) are offering a £500 grant towards the cost of installation. This is available to the first 20 applicants or until 31 March 2026, whichever comes first.
We are keen to emphasise that this grant is only available to those households who make use of on street parking because of no private, or otherwise, alternative.
Important safety notice
Our highways inspectors are on the lookout for illegal use of such cables, which can potentially cause a trip hazard in the public highway.
