Re-use of public sector information (RPSI)

The Re-use of Public Sector Information Regulations 2015 (RPSI) require us to make accessible information available for re-use, unless it is restricted or excluded.

‘Public task’ refers to our core responsibilities and functions.

What information can be re-used?

You can re-use any information that:

  • we have published
  • has been released under the Freedom of Information Act or other access legislation
  • Iis not restricted by copyright, confidentiality, or legal exemptions

Any information we supply to you under the Freedom of Information Act should be for your personal use. We retain copyright to all information we disclose.

Do I need to request permission?

You do not need permission to re-use information covered by the Open Government Licence (OGL), but you must agree and comply with the terms. This includes most content published on our website (excluding logos), unless otherwise stated.

If the information is not covered by the OGL, you must request permission under the RPSI regulations.

How to request re-use

To request permission email: freedomofinformation@hartlepool.gov.uk

Include:

  • your name and address
  • the information you want to re-use
  • how you plan to use it

We will respond within 20 working days. If your request is complex, we may need more time.

Our response will tell you about any conditions for re-use, and if you will be charged a fee to re-use the information. In most cases, information will be available to re-use free of charge. If the information is available electronically and you are happy to receive it by email there will be no charge. There may be a charge if you require paper copies of documents.

If you're not satisfied

If you’re unhappy with our decision:

  1. Email freedomofinformation@hartlepool.gov.uk to request a review. A senior officer not involved in the original decision will respond within 20 working days.
  2. If you’re still not satisfied, you can contact the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) to request an independent review.
