Reserve or renew a library book
We have thousands of books as well as a great selection of ebooks and eaudiobooks from BorrowBox. We also have large print books and audiobooks.
You can use your online library account to explore our catalogue and reserve an item by following the below steps or you can visit your local library.
-
Log in to your online library account.
-
Browse items by genre or use the search box to see what is available (use the advanced search options to narrow down your search).
-
Once you have found the book you want, select 'check availability' and it will state if the book is available and which library holds a copy.
-
If the book is available, click ‘place reservation’ and select the library you wish to collect it from and reserve the item.
-
If the book is already out on loan, you can reserve it and we will notify you when it becomes available.
Reservations for items in our library stock are free.
It is possible to request items not currently held in our stock. There is a small charge for each item and we will ask you to pay this charge when you make the request. It is not subject to supply of the item or notification.
We will tell you about any further costs for borrowing books or journals from outside of the area before we place your order. Costs are calculated on a case by case basis. Our colleagues are happy to answer any questions.
Renew a library book loan
Books can be renewed online, over the phone or in any community hub / library.
You can use your online library account to renew an item loan by following the below steps.
-
Log in to your online library account.
-
Select 'My Account' to see a list of items you currently have on loan.
-
Select 'Renew' to extend this loan period for another three weeks (you will only be able to do this if someone else has not requested the same book).
-
You can renew your book up to twice online but you will need to bring the item to one of our libraries to renew it again after that.
