What is an EPC
An Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) shows how energy efficient a property is. It gives the property a rating from A (most efficient) to G (least efficient).
Why EPCs Matter
- Help buyers and tenants understand energy use and potential costs
- Provide recommendations to improve energy efficiency
- Required when selling, renting, or building a property
- Needed to apply for government-funded energy efficiency support (only low-rated properties may qualify)
Key Information
- Rating scale: A to G (A = most efficient, G = least)
- Validity: EPCs are valid for 10 years
- Legal requirement: You must have an EPC when selling or renting a property
