Get extra support when you travel
The Bridge Card helps you travel more confidently and independently on public transport in Hartlepool.
It is free and available to Hartlepool residents who may need extra support during their journey.
What the Bridge Card does
The Bridge Card lets transport staff know that you may need some extra assistance.
For example, you can use it to:
- ask the driver to wait while you sit down
- get help knowing when to get off the bus
The scheme is operated by Hartlepool Borough Council with the co-operation of local transport companies.

Your Bridge Card includes space for emergency contact details.
You can add:
- a name
- a phone number
This can help staff support you if you feel unwell during your journey.
How to get a Bridge Card
You can get a Bridge Card in several ways.
Collect one in person
You can pick one up from:
- a Community Hub
- a Day Centre
- the Civic Centre
Through schools and colleges
Secondary schools and colleges in Hartlepool can provide Bridge Cards to students who may benefit from extra support.

You can request a Bridge Card online through the Passenger Transport Team.
