Appeal for a school place

You can appeal if:

• you applied for a Year 7 place for September 2026
• your child was not offered a place on 3 March 2026

If you're appealing for a place at a school outside Hartlepool, you need to contact the school's local authority. You can use Get Information about Schools' to find a school's local authority.

After submitting a secondary school admission appeal for entry into Year 7 in September

You will be invited to attend an appeal hearing in May or June 2026.  If you decide not to attend, your appeal will be considered based on your written submission.

The hearing provides you with an opportunity to:

• explain in person the reasons why you are appealing
• ask questions about the admission authority's case
• answer any questions the panel or the admission authority may have
