Determined admission arrangements
All admission authorities must determine their admission arrangements by 28 February each year, even if no changes have been made and no consultation is required.
Admission arrangements for all schools in Hartlepool
It is the responsibility of each school’s admission authority to make sure their admission arrangements follow the School Admissions Code. For community schools, Hartlepool Borough Council is the admission authority. For academies, voluntary aided, and foundation schools, the governing body or trust is responsible.
Hartlepool Borough Council must publish the determined admission arrangements for all schools in the borough. These arrangements will be listed in the table below as they are received.
Primary schools
*Fens Primary School, Kingsley Primary School, Rift House Primary School and Thorston Primary School are community schools and subject to our determined admission arrangements.
**Lingfield Education Trust is the Admissions Authority for Golden Flatts Primary School and Lynnfield Primary School. Given the timescales of conversion from maintained school to academy status, Golden Flatts Primary School and Lynnfield Primary School have adopted the local authority’s admission criteria for the 2026 academic year.

Coordinated schemes for admissions
We are responsible for setting the coordinated admissions schemes for all primary and secondary schools in the town.
These schemes provide the framework for managing applications during the normal admissions round and for in-year applications.
The coordinated schemes include:
- setting the timetable for applications
- providing the common application form
- receiving and processing applications
- allocating school places
- sending out school place offers
- managing appeal hearings
