Home to school transport

Am I eligible for concessionary travel?

If your child is not eligible for free home-to-school transport, they may still be able to travel on a dedicated school bus if there are spare seats available. This is called concessionary travel.

How It works

Concessionary travel permits allow pupils to use vacant seats on school transport services. These seats are offered at a cost to parents or guardians.

You can choose to:

  • pay each term – this gives access for that term only and does not guarantee a seat in future terms*
  • pay for the full year – this gives access for the full academic year*

*Please note:
Concessionary places are not guaranteed. While we aim to honour all places, in rare circumstances we may need to reallocate a seat if a pupil becomes eligible for free travel under our Home to School Transport Policy. We will always try to minimise disruption and communicate any changes clearly and in advance.

How to apply

If you are interested in a concessionary place for your child, please send an enquiry through our online contact form to the School Transport / Passenger Transport Services team.
