What is housing for older people?
Housing for older people includes a range of accommodation designed to help people live independently as they age. In Hartlepool, this usually means anyone aged 55 or over.
Types of housing available
Sheltered housing
A group of flats or bungalows in a shared complex, often with a warden on site.
Bungalows or ground floor flats
These homes offer level access and may be suitable for older people or anyone with mobility needs.
Extra care housing
Self-contained flats or bungalows with 24-hour on-site care and additional communal facilities.
