Emergency Hospital Admission JSNA

What needs are unmet?

Strategic Issue 1

There is a need for suitable services in Hartlepool, there are high rates of emergency admissions which are exacerbated by difficulties in arranging GP appointments. This is compounded by higher rates of deprivation and poor health in the population.

Hartlepool’s residents have expressed the need for improved access to health services and highlight the need for hospital services in the Borough.

Strategic Issue 2

There are high emergency admission rates for children and the older population (aged 65+), health literacy needs to be improved in areas of high deprivation and lower qualification to promote alternative pathways to medical care.

Strategic Issue 3

There is a need for improved mental health services within the community to prevent crises as the rate of emergency admissions for intentional self-harm is rising.
