Nationally

Disability Action Plan19

Led by the Cabinet Office’s Disability Unit it includes 32 actions to improve accessibility, including:

  • Online hub for accessible playgrounds
  • Support for guide dog users
  • Research into future disability challenges
  • Hosting bid for the 2031 Special Olympics

National Disability Strategy20

Cross-government strategy with 120 actions, focusing on housing, transport, employment and inclusive services. It emphasises co-production with disabled people and organisations.

Regionally

Adapt North East21

Community-based charity offering services for people with sensory, physical and learning disabilities. Includes digital inclusion support and community transport.

Alan Shearer Activity Centre22

Free facilities for people with complex disabilities and sensory impairments. Includes hydrotherapy, sensory rooms and accessible equipment.

Locally

North Regional Association for Sensory Support23

Offers advocacy, advice, and BSL-accessible drop-in services for sensory loss.
