Nationally

NHS England Dementia Programme (2024-2025)

  • Inclusive Communication: Accessible public information, including easy-read formats and lived experience networks.

Dementia UK focuses on expanding Admiral Nurse services, which provide specialist dementia care

  • In the Community: More clinics and outreach services.
  • In Hospitals: Increased presence of Admiral Nurses.
  • In the Workplace: Support for carers balancing employment and caregiving.
  • Digital Expansion: Online resources and helplines.
  • Specialist Support: Services for younger people with dementia and those with learning disabilities.

Regionally

The North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care System (ICS) supports dementia care through:

  • Integrated Memory Services: Early diagnosis and support.
  • Community Dementia Teams: Multidisciplinary support for patients and carers.
  • Dementia-Friendly Environments: Hospitals and care homes are adapting spaces to be more therapeutic.
