Cemeteries and crematorium

Our services and memorabilia

Our facility caters to the needs of different communities and religions. We strive to provide the best possible service throughout the bereavement process, allowing families to bid a meaningful farewell to their loved ones. We accommodate both traditional religious funeral services and alternative forms of farewell, recognising that each funeral is a unique event.

The staff at Bereavement Services are here to help with funeral services and memorials, guiding you through this difficult time.

Keepsake urns

A collection of small urns and heart-shaped keepsakes with black presentation boxes are displayed on a wooden table. They are presented in various colours including blue, red, silver, gold, pink and white.

We offer a range of mini keepsake urns to store the cremated ashes of your loved one. These urns provide a personal and touching tribute, allowing you to keep a small amount of ashes close to your heart.

Each urn is approximately 7.5cm in height, with a secure lid, and comes in a black velvet presentation box.

Granite memorial vase and tablet

One double placement and one signal placement memorial vases and tablets with metal flower holders and black plaques.

Our granite memorial vases and tablets provide a lasting base for your memorial. Flowers can be placed in your personal vase. The only proviso we make is that we reserve the right to remove dead flowers and dispose of them on your behalf so that the displays are always fresh and beautiful.

The tablet, approximately 18cm x 13cm, is made of polished granite and can accommodate around 120 letters for your inscription.

The image shows four memorial plaques with different inscriptions and illustrations.

These plaques are made from vitrified porcelain, providing a lasting base for your memorial. Flowers can be placed in your personal vase, and we maintain the displays by removing dead flowers so that they’re always fresh and beautiful.

The tablet, approximately 18cm x 13cm, can accommodate around 182 letters for your inscription.

A example memorial bench, this one is made of concrete with a backrest featuring multiple small black plaques. The bench is placed on a paved surface, surrounded by green plants with long, pointed leaves. The background consists of a wooden lattice fence.

Our multi-tablet bench, made from polished granite, can hold up to 15 individual tablets. The tablet, approximately 15cm x 8cm, can accommodate around 95 letters for your inscription. We hope that this will provide you a personal place for contemplation and remembrance.

Garden of Remembrance memorial plaques

An example black plaque with gold trim and lettering is mounted on two black posts in a grassy area. The plaque reads: "IN LOVING MEMORY OF ANDREW SIMON CARTER 7.12.1923 - 24.3.2008 He lived for those he loved and those he loved remember."   This example memorial plaque reads, "In Loving Memory Of Andrew Simon Carter Devoted Husband, Dad and Grandad Forever in our hearts." The plaque is rectangular with a black background and gold lettering.

The Garden of Remembrance, located near the Tanfield Road entrance, is dedicated to the memory of loved ones. Ashes may be scattered in this communal area. Our bronze plaques can be leased for 10 years, with an option to renew for a further 10 years, if desired.

Memorial tree with plaque

A tall cherry tree in full bloom with pink flowers stands prominently in a garden. The tree is surrounded by other greenery and trees, with a clear sky above.

Commonly known as cherry trees, the prunus sargentii 'rancho' produce beautiful pink flowers in spring and vibrant autumn foliage. Trees are subject to availability and comes with a bronze plaque (28cm x 28cm). Ashes may be scattered in front of the tree.

Burial of ashes

Ashes can be buried in a new grave or within a family grave with the grave owner's permission. We have designated burial areas at Stranton and West View Cemetery for cremated remains, known as the Tribute Area. Up to four cremated ashes caskets can be buried in one plot, and a memorial can be erected.

Scattering of ashes

Ashes can be scattered at Hartlepool Crematorium with great sensitivity by our trained staff in the Gardens of Remembrance or where exclusive right of burial is granted. You can choose an unwitnessed scattering or have it observed by friends and family.

Floral tributes

Flowers brought to a funeral are a symbol of the love and respect held for your loved one. After the service, floral tributes will be displayed for two weeks in the Garden of Remembrance, allowing time to read the cards and messages. They will then be carefully removed.
