Get active with Fit for February Challenge.

Families across Hartlepool are being urged to get more active by taking on a special “Fit for February” challenge.

The initiative, devised by Hartlepool Borough Council’s Participation Team, involves 28 different games - 14 indoors and 14 outdoors – that can be played whilst following lockdown rules.

It is being run as part of the Council’s Family Time project which aims to provide more opportunities for Hartlepool families to be active together.

Families Activator Louise George said: “This is a difficult time for everyone, but particularly so for many families with younger children.

“We wanted to create something that would enable children to be more active, let off some steam and have lots of fun with their parents/carers. We gave particular thought to the indoor element of the scheme to account for families that may be having to self-isolate.”

Games include seeing how many “keepy ups” you can do in 60 seconds, creating a new dance move, playing a game of hand ping-pong, creating an indoor obstacle course and making a model out of recyclable materials.

The challenge features on the Get Hartlepool Active Facebook page and weekly spot prizes are on offer for families that engage with the challenge by sharing their pictures and comments using the hashtags #FamiliesFitForFebruary #FamilyTime #GetHartlepoolActive #LoveHartlepool.
