Citizenship ceremony

Once your application for British citizenship is approved by the Home Office you will be invited to attend a citizenship ceremony. This is the final step on the journey to becoming a British citizen.

Do I have to attend a ceremony?

You must attend a citizenship ceremony if you are over 18 years old and living in the UK. Children under 18 years old do not have to attend a ceremony but are encouraged to do so.

When and where are Hartlepool ceremonies held?

Hartlepool has a public group ceremony arranged once a month. You may also arrange a private ceremony.

Ceremonies are held in the Civic Suite at Hartlepool Civic Centre.

What is the ceremony fee?

There is no fee if you choose to join the public ceremony.
