Local Land Charges

When you buy a property or a piece of land, it is important that you or your solicitor ask for a local land charges search to make sure there are no charges affecting the land or property.

A local search will be in two parts:

• LLC1 is a legal document which will show entries in the local land charges register such as financial charges, planning obligations, listed buildings, legal agreements and tree preservation orders.
• CON29R is a standard form of enquiries agreed between the Law Society and the Local Government Association. This will show any planning, highways, building control and environmental health matters.

You may submit your search:

• Electronically - you may choose to send your local search to us electronically. You can do this via our own electronic service. Please contact us for details of using our own electronic service. Or by the National Land Information Service (NLIS)
• By DX - please follow the above instructions then send your search to DX 60669 Hartlepool
• By post - please ensure you submit your search using the correct forms, in duplicate and enclose a plan highlighting the area to be searched on and the correct fee. Please post your search request to Land Charges , Civic Centre, Victoria Road , Hartlepool , TS24 8AY . If you are paying by cheque please make cheques payable to Hartlepool Borough Council
• All search requests must be accompanied by a plan clearly identifying the area to be searched
