Schools Transformation

The Priority School Building Programme

The Priority School Building Programme (PSBP) is a centrally managed programme set up to address the needs of the schools most in need of urgent repair. Through the programme, 261 schools will be rebuilt or have their condition needs met by the Education Funding Agency (EFA). The first school will be completed in 2014. All schools within the programme will be delivered by the end of 2017.

There are 3 schools in Hartlepool that have been accepted on the scheme;

  • Barnard Grove Primary School
  • Holy Trinity CE VA Primary School
  • Manor College of Technology

Work on these sites will begin during the summer 2014, with construction completion of 2015/16.

Schools Transformation Team

The team is responsible for the implementation and contract management of the BSF ICT Contract.  This involves working with schools/colleges to develop a list of key ICT priorities, project planning, project implementation and service delivery.  The team manages the contract and provides support and advice to schools.

The team is also responsible for the development, monitoring and prioritising of the Schools' Capital Works Programme.  The team works closely with schools and Building, Design and Management to ensure that funding received from Central Government is targeted at schemes to ensure that the school estate is adequately maintained and fit for purpose.

In addition the team supports those schools considering Academy status and is instrumental in liaising with other Council departments in the conversion process.
