Talk Matters overview
Talk Matters is a project that recognises the important role of parents and carers in their children’s language development. Children learn language by listening and interacting with others, even before they are born, you are modeling language. By making time every day to talk to your child you are helping their language and communication development.
The project focuses on 5 key activities that provide important opportunities to support your child’s language development:
- Talk with me
- Play with me
- Listen to me
- Share a story with me
- Sing songs and rhymes with me
Toby Talk-Matters is a reminder to all adults about the importance of talk.
