What to do before an incident

If you live or work within the Hartlepool Power Stations Detailed Emergency Planning Zone DEPZ you will be issued with a calendar which will inform you of the immediate protective actions to be taken when warned of a nuclear incident including the use of Stable Iodine Tablets, consumption of food & water, pets & livestock's and contact arrangements.

What to do during an incident

During an incident, those living or working within the Hartlepool DEPZ, you must follow the direction given to you via the telephone warning system and in the calendar. Tune in and listen to the local radio station for further information, such as for information on any radioactive contamination and what you should do to protect yourself. 

If you live outside of the DEPZ for Hartlepool Power Stations, you should tune in and listen to the local radio station and follow any guidance provided.

What to do post incident

Once any release of radiation from Hartlepool Power Station has been brought under control, the local emergency services will work quickly to provide information on where you can safely go and where any restrictions might be in place.
