Seagulls

Hartlepool Borough Council has received a number of complaints about the nuisance created by people feeding seagulls with left over fast food at Seaton and on the Headland. As well as causing litter and mess, chips, burgers and other fast food can affect the health of the gulls. Feeding gulls can encourage unwanted behaviour such as stealing food or aggression towards people. You could also receive a £75 fixed penalty notice for littering.

The Council has installed signage along the sea front at Seaton and on the Headland and distributed posters and leaflets to local food businesses and visitor attractions.
