Health, Safety & Risk Advisory Service

Health and Safety in schools and academies need not be complicated. It is simply about taking practical steps so that the real risks are managed, and learning opportunities are experienced to the full. The Health, Safety and Risk Advisory Service can assist schools and academies with sensible risk management. We have experienced health and safety professionals specialising in education.

Benefits

The Health, Safety and Risk Advisory Service will act as the competent source of health and safety advice for your school/academy (which every organisation is legally required to have). We will keep you up to date with appropriate information and legislative changes, and can provide training, accident investigation, audits and inspections.  This will help reduce the risk of accidents and injuries occurring, and will minimise the risk of legal actions, fines or costly insurance claims.

What we offer:

  • Advice, guidance and support on health and safety and fire safety between the hours of 8.30-17:00 Monday to Friday (except bank holidays).
  • An annual health and safety audit and inspection with a written report on the significant findings (including good practices and non-compliances). The report will provide pragmatic recommendations, where necessary to meet compliance with health, safety and fire legislative requirements.
  • Provision of best practice health, safety and fire policies, guidance and risk assessments for schools to adopt.
  • Membership of CLEAPSS, the school science and technology specialist advisory consortium, access to their comprehensive websites (primary and secondary).
  • For secondary schools we will also act as your official Radiation Protection Supervisor and you will have an allocated Radiation Protection Adviser.

  • Accident recording and reporting in accordance with the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous Occurrences Regulations (RIDDOR).
