How Benefits are usually paid

Payment of Housing Benefit, Local Council Tax Support and Free School Meals

BACS bank transfer is the quickest and most secure way to receive your Housing Benefit payment. Your benefit payment cannot be lost or delayed in the post. It cannot be stolen.

Your payment arrives into your bank, and is cleared immediately. You do not have the inconvenience of having to pay cheques into your bank account.

Payment is normally made two weekly or four weekly in arrears.

Local Council Tax Support is paid direct to your Council Tax account. A new Council Tax Bill is sent with your new instalments showing your new instalments.

Free School Meals. A payment is made direct to your child's school.
