Book your Christmas tree collection

Published Wednesday, 13th December 2017

RESIDENTS of Hartlepool can help the local environment by arranging to have their real Christmas trees collected for recycling once the festive season is over.

Hartlepool Borough Council will be operating a free pre-booked kerbside collection service from 8-22 January.

Collections will be carried out ward-by-ward and bookings will be taken on a first come-first served basis. To book a collection go to www.hartlepool.gov.uk/collectmytree or call (01429) 523330. The Council will be taking bookings from Monday 18 December-Friday 22 December and then again from Tuesday 2 January 2018 when it re-opens after the festive break.

Collections will take place at the following times:

  • Rural West, Monday 8 January
  • Fens and Rossmere, Tuesday 9 January
  • Manor House, Wednesday 10 January
  • Foggy Furze, Burn Valley and Victoria, Thursday 11 January
  • Hart, Friday 12 January
  • Seaton, Tuesday 16 January
  • Headland and Harbour, Wednesday 17 January
  • De Brus and Jesmond, Thursday 18 January
  • Hart, Friday 19 January

In addition, there will be two “mop up” collection days on Monday 15 January and Monday 22 January.

Trees should be left where residents normally put out their bins and the trees should not be placed on the kerbside before 7.30am on the pre-booked day of collection to prevent them causing an obstruction or becoming a potential nuisance.

All Christmas decorations should be removed from trees prior to them being put out for collection.

Trees can also be disposed of at the Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) in Burn Road. Residents who take their trees there - along with Christmas cards and wrapping paper which shouldn’t be put in their grey bins –will receive a voucher for a free 25kg bag of compost which they will be able to redeem at a spring compost giveaway event. The HWRC will be open over the Christmas and New Year period from 9am-12pm and from 1-4pm with the exception of Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
