Hartlepool Borough Council is making good progress with its Council Plan 2017 - 2020.

It comes after the Council unveiled an ambitious three-year plan earlier this year to develop and promote the town as an outstanding place to live, learn, work and visit.

The plan – which covers the period up to 2020 – outlines the Council’s top six priorities and for each priority there is a range of projects which the Council promises to deliver on.

The six priorities are:

  • Growing our economy, jobs and skills
  • Regenerating our town
  • Developing Hartlepool as a great place to live
  • Developing new services for people and communities
  • Building better beginnings and better futures for our children and young people
  • Providing effective leadership based upon innovation and efficiency

The infographic below outlines some of Hartlepool Borough Council’s achievements between July and September.

Councillor Christopher Akers-Belcher, the Chair of Hartlepool Borough Council’s Finance and Policy Committee, said: “We made some excellent achievements during quarter 2.

“A record-breaking 10,000 free swims were enjoyed by Hartlepool youngsters this summer thanks to the Council-run free swims scheme.

“In July, we also launched three Community Hubs to bring a range of services for local people under one roof.

“More than 15,000 people attended the Hartlepool Waterfront Festival and 18,935 people visited the National Museum of the Royal Navy Hartlepool in quarter 2 – an increase on last year’s figure.

“I’m also pleased to report work is well underway on £8 m of projects to regenerate key parts of our town. Construction has started on a scheme to revitalise the Church Square area and construction has also begun on a scheme to revitalise the Seaton Carew seafront.”
